The Ice Maker Made Me Regret This Purchase

No ice dispenser available for this model. I™€™ve cut my hand multiple times reaching in for ice. There is no logical way to use a ladle to scoop out the ice. The ice maker has given us problems since we got it. I regret buying this refrigerator.

We had a previous model of the same refrigerator that lasted over 20 years although the ice maker died about 15 years into its life. We had our kitchen custom built so we decided to go with the current model of the same refrigerator as it has the same dimensions. The refrigerator is really nice and there are some improvements like the interior lighting. The one complaint is that it periodically makes a noise louder than expected when cooling.

Purchased 42" Monogram side by side refrigerator freezer because of the features, like the climate controlled draw. Plus salesman said made in USA. The refrigerator is extremeely noisy when climate control fan is operating, so loud that at night would wake us up. Absolutely unacceptable.. Had tech visit, connected to computer system in refrigerator and diagnosed as needed new fan for draw. Came back week later replaced the fan, it still made same loud noise even when doors are closed. Measures 61-76 decibels. Tech said nothing more I can do. Only way to live with refrigerator noise is to turn off the climate controlled draw, paying for features that can't be used, absolutely terrible. The interior quality of plastic draws on plastic draw slides that bind and feel like inferior quality. Adjustable plastic racks on door rattle when closed. I do not recommend GE Monogram. As I never expected this low quality in high price range from GE, I have owned several Monogram appliances in past. My advice when buying appliance in this price range read customer reviews and compare with your own eyes in store.

Overall pretty good. Bottom drawer on fridge hits the seal on the door so the door has to be open really far to open and the freezer is a bit small. Havent figured out how to get ice to come out of the ice maker without just reaching inside it.

Big Fridge that can't hold a frozen pizza

This unit is huge but it will not hold large platters in the fridge or a typical frozen pizza in the freezer. It also has an ice machine but no water feature. It does have good drawers and a decent amount of room for every day items in the fridge (freezer is way too small). I like that the bottom drawer in the fridge can have its own temp. It keeps meat very fresh on the meat setting. I'm not sure if it's a defect or a feature but if the refrigerator drawers are not all completely closed, it makes a very annoying noise.

Poorly Built and Poor Service

This is my second unit because after 5 years my first Monogram refrigerator failed and GE sold me a new unit at a discount. The new unit has been serviced twice in 60 days and still has issues. I made a mistake purchasing a second Monogram unit. For reference I own a Monogram range, dishwasher and hood fan also. I would not buy nor recommend owning a Monogram product.

Monogram 42" Refrigerator

The product itself looks fine, however, for the cost the overall performance is average at best. The interior design is such that it delivers space that almost seems smaller than our 36" fridge we 'upgraded'. My wife and I liken it to the house that shows larger square feet only to find out that the added space was because the hallways were wider, but the rooms were actually smaller. The bottom of the fridge near the floor looks almost like it was unfinished without any grill or rack. Ultimately, longevity and reliability to determine if the investment was valid, but in that our older unit which was a fraction of the price and lasted a long time we definitely overpaid for a brand name and not product performance.

The interior is very small for a 42™€ built in, the doors are not aligned correctly. The dealer just doesn™€™t answer calls regarding the issue. Ice in ice maker is very hard to access. Ice maker is too large and takes up too much space. No switch to adjust for condensation. Very expensive for a very inferior refrigerator.

This model does not have in-the-door dispensing, but the ice maker is made for in-door dispensing. As a result, access to ice is through a little trap door at the top of the unit and not with an ice bin or drawer. Does GE have an ice maker that drops ice into a bin?

We got this as an upgrade with a new home and it aesthetically looks great however noticable issues which could be builder install but the ice maker makes little ice, door panels not flush, top piece was missing chrome covering. Good things are spacious, not loud, bright and clear to see items.

My Monogram fridge is a welcome replacement for my prior built in fridge. The only drawback is the ice maker It™€™s located on the top of the freezer. It doesn™€™t have a drop down bin. You have to reach into the ice maker itself. If is very difficult to access if you™€™re not very tall. Other than that I am very happy with the model I got.

Horrible broken cheap fridge

Just bought a monogram Ge appliance and it™€™s been giving me problems since I got it. I™€™ve gotten technical support to come out at least six different times took off work had to throw away 100 of dollars worth of food. The companies customer service and people are horrendous. They don™€™t want to help I™€™ve lost time on work. Constantly dealing with malfunctions they keep replacing parts. I must have gotten a lemon and they refused to be understanding. I have four kids and I™€™m constantly dealing with a broken fridge. They are extremely unhelpful. I have not had the fridge for more than a few months

Overall, I like my new monogram refrigerator/freezer except for one thing: the icemaker. It is horrible. It is a box in the freezer with a small door. I cannot get the ice out of it easily--I don't want to stick my hands in it--not sanitary!! I have no idea how I will clean it, so that I can have fresh ice in it. The installer said he did NOT suggest removing the box to empty and/or clean it. Very disappointing. Freezer side is kind of smallish too.

NATURALLY WHEN IT CAME TIME TO REPLACE IT WE WENT WITH ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL GE 42" MONOGRAM. AFTER A NEARLY 3 MONTH WAIT DUE TO THE "SUPPLY CHAIN" SITUATION IT ARRIVED AND WAS A PERFECT FIT! THE INTERIOR FINISH HAD NATURALLY CHANGED MAKING IT BRIGHTER AND MOST LIKELY EASIER TO CLEAN. Ice maker causing a lot of problems

We bought the refrigerator in 03/2021 and since April 2022 we don't have the ice maker working. The problem was the water was freeze in the tubes and never reached the ice maker. They said it has a recall and GE was manufacturing the part. On Sept 2 the part was installed and now it had a problem resulting on affecting the mother board. We are, since then, without a refrigerator. Waiting for a specialized technician to look at it. Very disappointed with this expensive appliance. Now we don't have neither the icemaker nor the refrigerator working.

GE technicians have been out four times, the ice maker continues to break. Has never worked properly, and they refuse to give me a new unit. My fridge is full of icicles, my food is damaged, and water leaks all over my floor. It is still under warranty, and I have filed a claim through their insurance company for the damage it has caused to my floors. Avoid.

Can't see inside

We bought the GE Monogram ZISS420NNSS 42" built-in refrigerator. When we saw the floor sample in the store it was not plugged in so after it was purchased and installed at our home we realized that you cannot see inside the freezer part of the refrigerator. The lighting is so dim that you need a flashlight to see inside it - literally. We had a GE Service technician come out to look at the problem where we were informed that there is nothing that can be done to increase or improve the freezer lighting. The technician said that he receives a lot of service calls and subsequent complaints about this exact thing and that it is a design flaw. I agree with him. It is a very serious design flaw. One would think that for the exorbitant price paid for this refrigerator it would be perfect and that customers would receive some sort of refund or exchange options because of these design flaws, but unfortunately we were not. So, I stress "Byer Beware" to anyone considering this refrigerator. And, I would like to add that when researching reviews for this refrigerator we did not read anything about this flaw. We wish we had never bought it.

Refrigerator Broke down twice in 8 months

I don™€™t normally write such reviews, but I have exhausted my patience with this bad product. And yes, your customer service team has been contacted and have done what they can do within their empowerment, so now I just want everyone to be aware of my problem with this fridge. A brand new refrigerator has broken down again for the 2nd time with my food rotting away just as we are stocking up for thanksgiving dinner parties. The first fix took 4 visits over 7 weeks, with a evaporator replacement, but GE™€™s own technician couldn™€™t figure out where the leak is happening as he notice refrigerant was empty during the first fix. Now that it appears the refrigerant has been leaking since the fix in July, I am doubtful the technician can find the root cause of the problem. First, is there health hazard for breathing in refrigerant leak over 8 months. Secondly, I have no confidence of this unit anymore even if they GE technician comes to fix it again. Third, a 2 week wait just to have someone to take a look, with supply chain issue and holidays, I don™€™t think I will have a fridge to use for the holidays. I figure a replacement unit would be best. If I happen to get the lemon in the batch, please just replace it, as I intend to have a fridge at this price for more than 20 years, as also highlighted in your product verbatim. Giving me a 1 year extension on my warranty no longer gives me reassurance as this has failed again during the worst time to not have a fridge.
